Mapping The Future of Artificial Intelligence

29th December 2022

The penetration of artificial intelligence (AI) in daily life has reached a level that its absence will now be an infliction on humanity.

Why? Because of its utility and convenience, AI has become necessary for researchers to come up with new applications to support modern life.

That said, even artificial intelligence consultation needs to add new dimensions to existing systems for the future. Doing so will give a boost to what’s predicted as the future of AI.

Here are some aspects of AI deployment that will change for good in the coming years.

Aspect #1: AI will contribute to an enhanced consumer experience

Much research and emphasis on inventing technologies to improve consumer experience has already been initiated.

But experts believe all these technologies will require the power of AI at its core for more comprehensive enablement.

In the future, consumer experience will be closely tied to next-generation technologies, including metaverse, blockchain, cryptocurrencies, etc. To make the best out of these technologies, businesses will also have to invest in fueling the research and development of AI methods.

A Gartner report concluded that the role of AI in obtaining insights, ensuring optimal user experiences, and process improvement would be the most prominent driving force for transforming consumer experiences.

Aspect #2: AI will give new wings to scientific research

The scientific research slowdown is a hot topic in the research communities.

The problem is that scientists feel the golden age for discoveries and inventions is over, and the research problems they now have are computationally exhausting.

Therefore, the need to explore tech options — which can guide research activities stagnating — still exists.

Fortunately, AI gives a unique solution to this problem. Not only does it give researchers the ability to handle enormous data sets and automates complex analysis with relationship or pattern identification.

Research, as we know, is an intellectually tiring job as well, along with other technical constraints, as discussed. But, by augmenting human intelligence, AI will undoubtedly boost research prospects in the coming years.

The biggest beneficiary probably will be the pharma sector, which will obtain a great deal of assistance with large-scale clinical trials.

Aspect #3: AI can make no-code solutions mainstream

By 2025, 70% of all custom applications will be built with low-code or no-code technologies. Businesses have realised that a customized online experience is crucial to increase customer engagement and conversions.

The problem is custom app development has traditionally been a code-dependent AI service.

But with due advancements, non-IT teams with little technical know-how will be able to develop customized AI systems by simply using no-code tools on a simple interface, like the drag-and-drop feature. These No-Code AI solutions enable AI model building at lower costs with faster turnaround times

Aspect #4: AI will focus more on its ethical compliance

There is a growing consensus across the globe — AI should become more ethically compliant and be used for the greater good.

This is because AI technologies utilize big data to produce outputs that drive value-driven processes. And experts believe there should be a system of checks and balances to ensure AI models do not misuse this sensitive information. Thus, we will see stricter regulatory requirements for AI applications in the coming years, so ethical compliance is high.

Up to 65% of executives have reportedly admitted they are aware of the discriminatory bias existing in current AI systems. Since they directly influence negative outcomes pertaining to customer data utilization, such ethical issues with AI systems need to be tackled in the future.

Aspect #5: AI will provide for the growth of metaverse

User interest in virtual environments, where people can interact with each other seamlessly, has increased significantly.

Metaverse is the term for environments providing an immersive interactive experience and taking the social media concept to the next level. That said, the growth of Metaverse and the development of its use cases for professional benefits requires artificial intelligence.

Why? Because AI will play a significant role in aspects such as:

  • Metaverse AIOps,
  • developing user interfaces in metaverse environments, and
  • creating meaningful, immersive experiences in Metaverse.

Beyond the consumer experience use case we discussed before, the use of Metaverse for healthcare delivery, education, training, etc., has immense potential.

But for developing a meaningful Metaverse framework for such use cases, the system will require an in-depth understanding of their real-world functioning. The bridge between both worlds can only be AI.

Aspect #6: AI will increase its contribution to the global good

Socio-economic problems, climate change, foreign policies, etc., have become a cause of global concern. In an evolving world, we cannot see artificial intelligence not contributing to the changing dynamics of these world issues.

Though global policies have been developed previously, appropriate means of assessment and evaluation to gauge their real-world impact were not present in the community.

So, effective policies for climate change will become necessary in the coming years. Only through the development of proper AI channels can we expect to correlate these policies with their actual impact and study the success rate of our strategies.

Besides, global issues generally have very nuanced trends that are difficult for humans to predict or analyze accurately. But with appropriate AI and ML (machine learning) methodologies, this loophole can be plugged in.

Aspect #7: AI will personalize healthcare for the masses

Developing personalized therapies for every patient while providing timely intervention is a highly anticipated outcome of AI-powered research in medicine.

Humans have managed to develop instruments that can measure biological activities. But the complexity and the enormity of the data obtained from these instruments can be so overwhelming that finding meaning out of them and delivering real-time therapies is next to impossible.

Only with artificial intelligence can we expect to recognize patterns from such enormous data sets, find conclusions in as little time as possible, and then give precise treatments.

The final argument

We have now entered an era where simultaneous research and development on AI methodologies and their deployment will keep transforming our lives.

So, it will be interesting to see what AI research projects entail in the coming days.
